Who Are We?
Three Concerned Kansans
Laura Mead
Laura grew up in Vermont and moved to Kansas in her early twenties after falling in love with Kansas and the Flint Hills.
Her interest in American civic duty came in part from attending yearly town halls as a child in Vermont, a tradition that continues on in Vermont to this day.
Laura and her husband Dave Kendall started their documentary film company Prairie Hollow Productions in 2015, covering topics of local and national interest.
She is also a multimedia artist and meditation teacher. More about her can be found at:
Martha Slater Farrell
Martha has spent her lifetime in communications as a radio journalist and video producer.
For 25 years as a volunteer she has helped lead an annual weekend retreat called “Kansas Dialogue”.
The event brings people together from around the state and all walks of life to discuss issues that face us as a state, nation, and on a personal level.
Dave Kendall
Dave began producing documentaries in the early 1980s after obtaining a master’s degree in Media Anthropology from the University of Kansas.
He was hired by KTWU, the PBS station in Topeka, to help create "Sunflower Journeys," a new series about Kansas launched in 1987.
Serving as host of that series, he produced a number of its stories and eventually became Executive Producer, also producing a number of documentaries and public affairs programs for KTWU until his departure in the spring of 2015. Along with his wife Laura Mead he then launched Prairie Hollow Productions and returned to his roots as an independent documentary producer.
